Chief Financial Officer | North Carolina, United States

“I like the structure that finance provides. There is more than one way to get to the right answer but there always seems to be a right answer.”

About Curtis

Curtis’ interest in finance and accounting began when he took an accounting class in high school. He likes the structure and challenge that accounting provides and decided to follow the path through college and beyond.

“I like the opportunity to help organizations understand where they’re at from a financial perspective and assist them in developing plans on how to achieve their goals,” Curtis says. As Bluespark’s first CFO, Curtis’ financial expertise and guidance are important to maintaining the company’s transparent and responsible business efforts.

With undergraduate and graduate degrees in accounting, Curtis brings more than 20 years of agency finance experience to Bluespark, which includes a deep understanding of how to work effectively with small teams and diverse clients. He has worked in both small regional agencies and larger organizations and has assisted these agencies with business acquisitions, mergers and consolidations. His familiarity and focus with agency work is no accident. Curtis prefers the flow and autonomy that a non-corporate environment provides.

In addition to overseeing all financial activities, Curtis manages some human resources responsibilities and is a N.C. certified CPA. While he is most comfortable working with a company’s finances, he likes to help in many areas of a business. The opportunity to join an efficient and driven group is what drew him to Bluespark.

Born in a small town in North Carolina, Curtis attended North Carolina State University where he met his wife, and together they are raising their two children in Cary (suburb of Raleigh).

Curtis jokes that his life is pretty boring but he and his family keep busy attending NC State football games (Go Pack!), going to many of their kids activities, dabbling in photography, and exploring the local beaches and mountains. He also spends time taking care of the two other (pet) children, a Havanese-poodle named Sadie and rescued stray cat named Misty Gray.
